Six o'clock

The first half of May has been wonderful. As far as I remember, we didn’t have any rain until today. The other day when I went to photograph the blooming cherries of my previous post (here) I was completely dazzled by the greenery bursting to life all around.

At six pm – that is four hours before sunset – a lacy veil shimmering in many shades of green was hanging over the parks and bordering the river.

I could have easily forgotten all about dinner if hubby hadn’t called suggesting we meet in the courtyard of the former school building that now houses a restaurant and microbrewery. We sat with our aperitifs at a table in the shade under the delicate fresh foliage and the perfectly blue sky with cotton ball clouds. Isn’t it only fair we have these long summer days and light nights to compensate for the weary winter season?

  1. You really must be in your element at the moment with beautiful scenery all around. Interestingly your shadows make it look nearer to sunset than it is. Like the sound of your husband, what a good idea to meet for a meal! B x

    1. The sun sets rather slowly up here in the north. If we are travelling in the summertime it is always very hard to get used to how quickly the sun sets and how dark the nights are in Southern Europe.

  2. It is the wonderful shades of green that have hit me too this year - for some reaason they seem to be brighter and greener than I remember in previous years - may be it is because of the huge contrast this year between the dull, wet, cold days of our Spring.

    1. Sunshine does make a difference in everything, even your spirits. Not to mention the fact that when you no longer spend your days at an office your observations will enter a new level. At least that's what has happened to me.
