Sweet fragrances

While we were away over the weekend the traditional ‘Midsummer roses’ (Rosa pimpinellifolia ‘Plena’) had started to bloom.

They are such sweet-scented blossoms I wish it were possible to record the fragrance.

So are those of the lilies of the valley under the spruce trees at the far end of our garden. I had a bunch of them in a vase last week but forgot to shoot them. Luckily, there were still some blossoms under the spruces for me to document.

  1. Your roses are beautiful and it's amazing how quickly you have caught up with us with your roses now blooming. It must have been a lovely sight to greet you back home. Sarah x

    1. It certainly was. But I'm afraid the rest of my few roses were planted only a few years ago and are far from blooming.
