Yesterday was International Women’s Day, which would have called for some sparkling. The problem was that we didn’t
happen to have any ‘demi’ and a sensible older couple like us would never open
a standard bottle just for two, at least not on a weekday.
However,
those who have read Stieg Larsson’s Millennium trilogy will know
that for the Nordic people a nice cup of coffee will fit any occasion. So we
settled for that and a generous bowl of traditional vanilla ice cream with some
hot homemade chocolate sauce and lemon zest.
For us,
that was tasty enough to celebrate the lady of the house and the signs of
spring that were clearly visible on the rooftops and snow piles in the yard. Finally some actual proof that we
will get rid of the winter, eventually!
